The Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel is a historic venue in regional New South Wales, originally built in 1914 and revitalised as a boutique destination for locals and travellers alike. With accommodation, dining and drinks at its core, the brief was to create an identity that respected the hotel’s heritage while introducing a fresh, contemporary point of view.

The visual identity balances classic typography with custom illustration, drawing on the building itself as a reference point throughout the brand. Illustrated details and iconography add warmth and character across menus, signage and merchandise, helping the brand feel approachable rather than overly formal. Developed to sit comfortably within the town while still feeling distinctive, the identity celebrates the hotel’s long-standing presence and positions it as a considered, modern place to stay, eat and unwind. The result is a refined yet welcoming brand that feels rooted in its history, while confidently looking forward.

I acknowledge and pay respect to the Wurundjeri people, the Traditional Custodians of the land I live and work on. Always was, always will be.
